Prepare for the Weekend
Does it sound fun to you to learn spiritual disciplines? Maybe. Do you think the 6th grade version of you thinks it sounds fun? Not as much, right? But here’s the thing—spiritual disciplines aren’t boring. They’re vital! We absolutely can’t survive this life without them. And, The Loop Show certainly won’t make learning these skills boring. Anything but!
For our first week, we’ll learn how to pray something called navigational prayers. Prayers that give us direction. Prayers that have direction. Just you wait! Your personal prayer life is guaranteed to get a boost from watching this with your students. Can you imagine how powerful it will be as our students begin to understand that prayer really does have the power to change things?
In week two, we’ll learn about how important it is to slow down a bit. To be quiet. We’ll show students that alone time is actually an important practice that can help draw them closer to God.
In our third week, we’ll learn the importance of building a solid life on a solid foundation. And what book do you think we’ll point students toward as the best guide for life? You got it! The Bible! Sometimes Bible reading can feel like a chore. That’s not the point. We’ll help students see that the Bible is alive and able to guide them and encourage them every day.
To close out our Survival Skills series, we’re gonna embrace a little friction. Students have questions for God. They have doubts. They have uncomfortable feelings like anger or mistrust—and they can be afraid to let God know that sometimes these feelings are aimed at Him. We’ll let students know Loop is a safe place to explore questions about God. We’ll remind them that God is wise and can handle our questions. We’ll teach them that the friction of their questions can cause a bright and lifelong fire in their hearts that burns brightly for God!
